Used Safes
If you want to own a safe, but you don’t want to pay full price, buying a used safe is definitely one way to go. You may have to put forth a little more effort to find one that you like, but finding an “almost new” safe at a deep discount is a pretty fair trade-off.
If you have the ability to haul it yourself, you may want to avoid any sort of shipping charges by searching your local Craigslist ads. Craigslist has gotten really popular over the years and people post all sorts of classified ads on a regular basis. In the search box type in whatever keywords interest you: gun safe, used safe, home safe, etc. Make sure you are searching the “for sale” items in your local vicinity, and if you’re not in any particular hurry you can check back ever so often to increase the odds that you’ll be one of the first to see any new listings.
Another way to go would be to search Ebay. They are the worlds biggest online auction site so you can pretty much guarantee that there will always be at least a few used safes being listed. One drawback here is that you may get stuck with some annoyingly high shipping charges. Safes are heavy, so if you’re having a used safe shipped to you from across the country, the shipping charges may end up being more than the safe itself, which kind of defeats the purpose. Many of the listings are for local pick up only, but who knows, you may find a seller who is local, or you may be able to work out a deal with reasonable shipping charges.
For your convenience, below are some of the current listings. In addition to used safes, you can definitely find new ones as well. Feel free to further if you don’t see anything that interests you on this page at this time. There are definitely more listings than what is shown here. Just make sure you try several different keyword searches so that you don’t miss anything.
Used Safes
This first selection includes items that are listed as "Used Safes." This should include everything from used gun safes, to used home safes, and any other type of used safe.
Vintage Safes
To broaden the search a bit, these items are listed as "Vintage Safes." Which means that they are probably a little older and maybe not as functional, but you never know.
Antique Safes
These items include the term "Antique Safe" in their listing.
Old Safes
And for good measure, here are some listings that include the term "Old Safe."
If you're searching for a safe there is no harm in searching for a used one, but buying used isn't the only way to get a good deal. With a little bit of searching you can find new safes at a discount too.
