Hidden Safes
The two most proactive things you can do when protecting your valuables is to lock them up and keep them hidden, and that's where the magic of a hidden safe comes into play; it does both!
Hidden safes are functional, discrete, and very cool. If you can think of a place to hide something, there's probably a safe to accommodate that space. Here is an over view of some different hidden safes for you to consider.
Wall Safes
Wall safes are probably the most common of the hidden safes. Manufacturers have designed them so that the width and depth of an average wall safe can easily be installed into your average wall, and covered with hanging décor. They are reasonably priced and they usually come with the same type of security features you would find on normal home and gun safes. Their biggest drawback would be their amount of usable space. Since walls aren't very thick, wall safes aren't very deep. But if you only need to secure a handful of smaller sized valuables, then a wall safe is definitely a viable option. Floor Safes
Floor safes are also a very common type of hidden safe, and there are many different shapes and sizes to choose from. Since you install it into the ground you have much more space to work with than a wall safe, but this also means that they are more prone to flooding. To combat this, proper installation usually requires that they be set in concrete, making the installation process more difficult than a wall safe. Once installed, however, they are great to have; just cover with some flooring and you’re good to go. Find out more about floor safes.
Drawer Safes
Drawer safes are another fairly common type of hidden safe. For the most part, they are called drawer safes because they are small enough to be hidden in drawers, but their light weight and compact size allows for them be hidden in other places that aren’t easily accessible, like high atop a shelf, or buried deep within a closet. For the most part, they are used to secure a lone pistol or handgun in a location that has easy access incase of an intrusion. Some drawer safes are meant to be bolted down to one location, like under a desk or inside of a drawer.
Diversion / Can Safes
Diversion safes are small, inexpensive safes that are meant to camouflage your valuables with other everyday boring household items, including everything from soda cans, to canned fruit, to athletes foot spray. They are obviously not very secure, and they can’t hold very many items, but they are great if you want to hide something in a way that is very unsuspecting, not to mention how awesome the novelty of having one of these things is.
Book Safes
Book safes are another type of diversion safe, but they deserve their own category because of their place in pop-culture history. How many times have you seen a movie where someone hides something in a book and you think to yourself how cool it would be to have one of your own? Well, you can have one of your own, and they’re not even very expensive!
Vault Doors
If you've got an artillery of weapons that requires an entire vault to keep concealed, but you’d also like to keep discrete, then installing a vault door that resembles a normal residential door is always an option. Even if someone was curious enough to try and peek inside “the room” they would never be able to get in.
